Bank statement PDF to Excel converter: a parser model, a per-statement API, or Google's parser

Last reviewed October 13, 2026

Quick answerA bank statement PDF to Excel converter reads each transaction line into rows you can download. Excel's own From PDF import is the first thing to try; Parsio's bank statement model also reads scans, at 3 credits a page.

Bank statement PDF to Excel converter: what it does

A bank statement PDF to Excel converter reads each transaction line of a statement into rows you can download as a spreadsheet. Excel has its own route on Windows: Data, Get Data, From File, From PDF, then select the items you want in the Navigator and choose Load, or Transform Data to clean them first. Microsoft's pages do not say whether that import reads scanned PDFs; extract table from PDF to Excel covers it.

When Excel's import does not return clean rows, or statements arrive every month, a converter takes over the reading. Three are documented below: Parsio's bank statement model, a per-statement developer API from Veryfi, and Google Document AI's Bank Statement Parser.

Using Parsio's bank statement model, step by step

Parsio's help center gives these steps for a pre-built model.

  1. Create an inbox, choose "AI-powered PDF parser" and select the pre-built bank statement model.
  2. Import the statements by email forwarding, manual upload or the API. An upload takes up to 20 MB a file.
  3. If a PDF holds extra pages, use page processing to keep only the statement pages, because only kept pages count toward credits.
  4. Parsio finds the fields and tables itself. Review the rows on the Parsed data page.
  5. Download the rows as Excel (XLSX), CSV or JSON, or export them to Google Sheets.

Parsio's AI parser has a pre-trained bank statement model that, Parsio says, captures transactions, dates, amounts and balances at 3 credits a page, so its free plan, called Sandbox in Parsio's pricing table, covers 10 statement pages a month; best PDF data extraction software lists the other tools.

Scanned statements and tables across several pages

The AI engine reads text PDFs, scanned PDFs and images (PDF, JPG, PNG, BMP and TIFF). Parsio's template-based parser does not suit statements: it has no OCR and cannot extract tables from PDF files. Parsio's features page claims multi-row tables across multiple pages, and its bank statements page claims most statements are processed in under 5 seconds, with longer documents taking slightly longer.

If you only need the tables as a file, Parsio's OCR converter turns tables from scans into Excel or CSV at 1 credit a page. It returns text and tables, not named fields, so reading a closing balance still takes a person.

What each converter costs per statement

Prices as read on October 13, 2026:

  • Parsio: 3 credits a page on the AI parser. Starter is $29 a month, billed monthly, for 100 credits, which is 33 pages; Parsio pricing lists every plan.
  • Veryfi: $0.25 per bank statement on Starter, with a $500 monthly minimum. Its bank statement endpoint takes image, ZIP and PDF files up to 20 MB and returns JSON.
  • Google Document AI: $0.75 per classified document for its Bank Statement Parser. In a multi-page file it extracts from the first supported statement only, and online requests stop at 15 pages.

Veryfi and Google are APIs, so someone must write code.

Checking the rows before you reconcile

Compare the row count and the closing balance with the PDF before the rows go into a reconciliation. Parsio gives no accuracy figure and no list of supported banks on the pages read, and Google's processor list shows English as its only language. Parsio's pricing page turns the 30 free credits into 10 AI-parsed pages, while its bank statements page says 20 pages, so count a statement's pages first.

Parsio's post-processing step, your own Python on every plan, can reformat fields before export.
