Best document parser: the short answer and the table
For a small team that gets emails, PDFs and scans in one account, the best document parser of the eight below is Parsio: all four of its engines are on every plan, the free plan included, and Starter is $29 a month, billed monthly, for 100 credits.
The other seven fit narrower jobs, such as Docparser for multi-page PDFs, Mailparser for email bodies and Amazon Textract for volume driven by code. This guide is written from vendor pages, not hands-on use.
| Tool | Entry price | Best for | Free option |
|---|---|---|---|
| Parsio | Starter, 100 credits, $29 a month, billed monthly | Emails, PDFs and scans in one account | Free plan, 30 credits a month |
| Docparser | Starter, $39 a month, billed monthly | Multi-page PDFs, Word and image files | 14-day trial, no credit card |
| Mailparser | Starter, $29.95 a month, billed monthly | Email bodies and text attachments, no scans | 30-day trial, 30 credits |
| Parseur | Micro, 100 pages, $49 a month, billed monthly | Page-based credits; an email counts as one | Free tier, 20 pages a month |
| Airparser | Starter, 100 credits, $39 a month, billed monthly | LLM-powered parsing; listed by Parsio as "Also by us" | Free plan, 20 credits a month |
| Nanonets | $50 free credits, then $100 a month for 100 credits | Workflows built from blocks, billed per run | $50 in credits, no card |
| Amazon Textract | Detect Document Text, $0.0015 a page (US West, Oregon example) | Developers paying per page through an API | Free Tier for 3 months, new AWS customers |
| Google Document AI | Form Parser, $30.00 per 1,000 pages, per Google's examples | Developers calling an API | First 1,000 OCR counts free |
Units differ: Parsio counts credits by engine, Docparser credits (100 cover 100 to 500 pages), Mailparser emails, Parseur and Airparser pages, Nanonets block runs, and the two cloud APIs pages or documents.

Start free with Parsio →Parsio, Docparser and Parseur: monthly plans for small teams
Parsio runs a template-based parser, an AI parser with pre-trained models, a GPT-powered parser and an OCR converter. A credit is spent when an email or document is first parsed, at 1, 2 or 3 credits depending on the engine. The free plan holds 30 credits a month; Parsio's pricing table calls it Sandbox.
The 100-credit Starter plan is $29 a month billed monthly, or $24 a month billed annually ($290 a year). The limit: the AI parser takes 3 credits a page, so Starter's 100 credits cover 33 AI-parsed pages a month.
Docparser's Starter is $39 a month, billed monthly, for 100 credits that its page sizes at 100 to 500 pages monthly, or $32.50 a month billed annually. That page range is why it is the pick for multi-page PDFs, which Parsio's AI parser charges for page by page. It reads PDF, Word and image files, exports to Excel, CSV, JSON and XML, and allows 15 parsers on Starter.
Parseur's Micro plan is $49 a month, billed monthly, for 100 pages, or $39 a month paid annually. An email or spreadsheet counts as one page however long it is, and a PDF counts every page. Post-processing and multi-user accounts start on its Scale tier, from 10,000 credits a month.
Mailparser and Airparser: email bodies and language-model extraction
Mailparser's Starter is $29.95 a month, billed monthly, for 250 emails and 20 inboxes. It reads email bodies and csv, xlsx, docx, pdf and txt attachments, but its FAQ says images and scanned documents are not supported. The 30-day trial gives 30 credits, one per email, with no credit card.
Airparser is described on Parsio's site as an LLM-powered document parser, meaning a language model reads the document; parsio.io files it under "Also by us", so it is Parsio's own product. A credit is one PDF page, email, image or HTML document. Starter is $39 a month, billed monthly, or $33 a month billed annually, and the free plan gives 20 credits a month with no credit card.
Nanonets, Amazon Textract and Google Document AI: workflows and APIs
Nanonets starts with $50 in credits and no card, then charges $100 a month for 100 credits. It bills each workflow block per run, and a block is one step such as extracting data or posting to an integration. Nanonets says an invoice workflow runs 4 to 6 blocks.
Amazon Textract has no plans and is called through an API, so someone must write code. Its Detect Document Text API, which returns plain text, is $0.0015 a page for the first million pages in Amazon's US West (Oregon) pricing example. The Free Tier lasts three months for new AWS customers and includes 1,000 Detect Document Text pages a month.
Google Document AI is also an API. Its Form Parser is $30.00 per 1,000 pages for the first million pages, per Google's pricing example, and the first 1,000 Enterprise Document OCR counts are free.
How to choose a document parser: input, volume and destination
Write the requirement down first: which documents arrive (emails, text PDFs, scans), how many pages a month, and where the rows go (Google Sheets, Excel, Zapier, a webhook or an API). Then count pages in each vendor's unit before comparing dollars.
Parsio exports to Excel, CSV and Google Sheets natively and reaches Zapier, Make, n8n, webhooks and an API. Parseur also lists Power Automate. Docparser takes files by upload, cloud storage, emailed attachment or REST API.
If scans are part of the mix, check which engine reads them. Parsio's AI parser reads scanned PDFs and has a pre-trained bank statement model, and Parsio can post the parsed data to a webhook URL you supply.
Parsio's pages list no pre-trained purchase order model, so purchase orders go through the AI parser's general documents model or the GPT-powered parser, where you name the fields in plain language. If you only need the text of a scan, Parsio's OCR converter returns text and tables at 1 credit a page, without named fields.
Narrow the field by input: best email parsing tools, best PDF data extraction software and invoice parsing software, or read the Parsio review first.
