Which Parsio integrations are native and which need a connector
Parsio integrations fall into two groups: things Parsio does itself (Google Sheets export, file downloads, webhooks and an API) and everything else, which runs through an automation platform such as Zapier or Make. Parsio's integrations page lists dozens of apps, including QuickBooks, Xero, HubSpot, Slack and Airtable, and its help center describes sending data to other applications through Zapier or Make.
| Route | Type | What it does | Extra subscription needed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google Sheets | Native | Adds a row for each parsed document | No |
| Excel, CSV, JSON download | Native | Exports parsed data as a file | No |
| Webhooks | Native | Posts parsed data to a URL you supply | No |
| Public API | Native | Uploads documents and reads parsed results | No |
| Zapier | Connector | 4 triggers and 2 actions | A Zapier account |
| Make | Connector | 4 triggers and 1 action | A Make account |
| n8n, Pabbly Connect, Integrately | Connector | Listed by Parsio as supported platforms | An account with that platform |
Parsio's plan comparison lists Google Sheets, Zapier, Make, n8n, webhooks and the API on every plan, including the free Sandbox. Plan limits are on the Parsio pricing page.
Google Sheets: three ways to export, with setup steps
The built-in Google Sheets integration is the simplest route. Parsio's documentation gives these steps.
- In the inbox, open Integrations, choose Google Sheets, then the option to add rows to a sheet.
- Sign in with Google and tick the permission box that lets Parsio write to your sheets. If you miss it, remove Parsio from your Google account's connected apps and reconnect.
- Pick the spreadsheet and worksheet, and add column titles in the sheet.
- Map each column to a parsed field. Columns can hold one field, several fields, static text or nothing.
Rows then arrive in real time. A second option is a formula you paste into a cell. It is free and quick, but it only displays what is in your Parsio inbox. Sheets refreshes it at intervals of up to one hour, and a row disappears when the source document is deleted or passes its retention period. The third option is an automation platform, which copies the data but takes 5 to 15 minutes to configure and may need a paid plan there.
For anything you must keep, use the built-in integration or a platform, not the formula. Layout advice is in handing extracted data to a spreadsheet.
Zapier and Make: the triggers and actions Parsio exposes
| Platform | Triggers | Actions |
|---|---|---|
| Zapier | Document Parsed; Document Parsed (Flat Tables); Table Parsed; Attachment Received | Extract Data From a Document; Extract Data From a Document (Async) |
| Make | Four triggers, including Watch Document Parsed | Upload a Document for Parsing, synchronous by default with an async option |
The two Document Parsed triggers on Zapier differ in how tables arrive: as nested arrays or flattened into columns. Pick the flat version when the next step is a spreadsheet. The details of repeating rows are in extracting line items.
To set up either platform, create a Zap or scenario, choose Parsio as the trigger app, connect with your Parsio email and password, choose the inbox, then add the destination step. In Make, click Run once and reprocess a document in Parsio so Make receives a sample to map. One known snag: if you signed up to Parsio with Google, you have no password. Parsio's fix is to create one through its forgot-password page. On Zapier, the synchronous action does not accept ZIP files.
Webhooks and the Parsio API: setup and limits
A webhook is the route for an app that Zapier and Make do not cover. In Parsio, open Integrations, then Webhooks, create a webhook, select a trigger (usually Document parsed) and paste the destination URL. Parsio signs each payload with a signing secret and sends the signature in a parsio-signature header, so your server can reject requests that did not come from Parsio.
The API lives at api.parsio.io and authenticates with an API key from your account, sent in an X-API-Key header. Documented limits are:
- Synchronous upload: one file per request, 20 MB maximum, no ZIP files.
- Asynchronous upload: one file per request, 50 MB maximum, ZIP files accepted.
- Synchronous text and HTML parsing works with the template and GPT engines only.
- Document listings return at most 500 items per page.
What to check after connecting Parsio to another tool
- Send three real documents and compare each destination row with the source by eye.
- Check dates, currency amounts and leading zeros, which spreadsheets often reformat.
- Confirm what happens when a field is empty or a document fails. Decide who reviews those, as set out in building an exception queue.
- Count tasks or operations on the automation platform as well as Parsio credits. A parsed document that triggers a Zap or scenario uses tasks or operations there as well as Parsio credits.
- If you rely on the Sheets formula, note the retention period on your plan: 30, 90 or 180 days.
