Start free with Parsio →Why people look past Mailparser
Mailparser reads email bodies and csv, xlsx, docx, pdf and txt attachments. For documents that need OCR, which is text recognition on a scan, its FAQ points readers to Docparser.
Mailparser's add-ons, such as duplicate detection and webhook retry, are marked "Not included in plan cost" and show no price on the page. Its annual plans hand over a year of credits at the start: if they run out early, a new annual plan starts automatically. On a paid plan at its limit, Mailparser keeps importing emails but pauses them in a queue until you buy more, upgrade or reach the reset date.
Alternatives that read PDFs, scans and images
Parsio runs four engines on every plan. Its AI, GPT-powered and OCR engines read scans and images, and its template-based parser takes emails with a fixed layout at 1 credit per email, per Parsio's help center. A credit is what Parsio charges, spent when an email or document is first parsed. Pick Parsio when scans or images arrive beside the emails.
Airparser charges one credit per PDF page, email or image, and its four paid plan cards list OCR support for images and scanned documents. Parsio's navigation lists it under "Also by us" as an LLM-powered document parser, so parsio.io presents it as its own product. Pick Airparser for language-model extraction; Starter is $39 a month, billed monthly.
Parseur takes documents by email, API and upload, counts an email as one page and a PDF at every page, and lists OCR software among its products. Pick it for page-based credits: Micro is $49 a month, billed monthly, for 100 pages.
Email-only alternatives: emailparser.com and Zapier's parser
emailparser.com's web app is $25 a month or $249 a year for up to 5,000 emails a month from up to 10 Gmail, Office 365, Exchange, IMAP or POP accounts. It does not parse local files; its Windows app, $145 a year, parses them as well. Pick it for a plain web app that reads mail accounts directly.
Email Parser by Zapier publishes no price. It runs inside a Zapier account, whose Free plan is $0 for 100 tasks a month, and Zapier's help page limits it to 15 templates.
Who should stay with Mailparser
Stay with Mailparser when the mail is plain text and 250 emails and 20 inboxes cover it. Its home page says it extracts data fields by your own custom parsing rules, and its annual plan, $24.95 a month billed annually, gives the year's credits up front. It also connects to Salesforce directly and to Zapier, Power Automate and webhooks, while Parsio's integrations page lists no Power Automate connector.
Move to Parsio when scans or images join the emails. Parsio's free plan holds 30 credits a month, so a sample of 30 templated emails can be parsed there at 1 credit each before you pay, and Parsio says no credit card is required. Parsio vs Mailparser sets the two side by side, the free email parser list covers trials and free tiers, and best email parsing tools widens the field.
